Hello,
The cowards who conducted these attacks seemed to think they were attacking symbols of what they see as a monolithic, white male-dominated U. S. society, which they have demonized with every breath.
The piece of planning they left out of their well orchestrated butchery was the fact that this city of ours is the epicenter of diversity in this world. It is the very reason the vast majority of us live here. We feed on it; we grow from it. No matter who we are or what we look like, the truth is that not many people here look like us! Or act like us. Or think like us. Which is just the way we like it. We each have what someone else needs. It is what makes us strong. And there is no doubt—we are very strong.
That is what these forces of darkness did not plan for. That this will not send us to our knee in supplication. Rather, it compels us to link arms with whomever the individual is who happens to be standing next to us, whether normally friend or foe. Who, inevitably, does not look like us.
I mean: Hey! This is New York we're talkin' about here!
Be well, and Peace,
E. J. Decker
