"... Right from the first song, title cut, I knew I had a winner in my hands ... I will give it plenty of air time." —Craig Turner 52nd St. Jazz, WPNE 89.3 FM
Radio Update
We're happy to report that While the City Sleeps... gained a friend in Jim Wilke of NPR's nationally syndicated, Jazz After Hours program. Since this is a late night album, we thank you for hearing that, Jim, and thanks for the spins!
It also received spins in Hawaii, San Diego and North Carolina, as well as getting airplay in the Tri-State area surrounding New York and in the Midwest.
While the City Sleeps... is also been played on jazz stations in Europe, including Norway, Lithuania and Italy.
Radio-1 in Lithuania reports: "I already played some tunes from your CD and plan to play more later.
The reaction of listeners was very positive, they mentioned your unique voice and melodism. Thank you again for your brilliant CD and songs you sing."
Have you heard it on your local station yet? If not, give them a call and ask them to give it a spin.
Recently, I was interviewed by John Hammel of WNTI (91.9 FM) in northern New Jersey. (I was born and raised a Jersey boy, so it was a nice homecoming!). We were joined by John's guest co-host, Lincoln Ferris, a jazz musicologist who had just returned from the Heritage Festival in New Orleans. We three chatted for an hour, played a number of cuts from While the City Sleeps... and mixed in some music from Nicholas Payton and by Dr. John, which blended in nicely. It was a great deal of fun! Again, I thank John and Ferris for a wonderful start to a Saturday. I do hope you were able to tune in—either on the radio, if you are in the northern New Jersey area, or on the Internet at www.wnti.org. John's show is always a great listen. If you missed any part of it, I may be able to add a clip from it here on my site in the near future.
